Language Larks uses the La Jolie Ronde structured and progressive course, which begins with a baby and toddler programme and runs up to the early years of secondary school. Each programme is uniquely suited to your child’s age and learning level. Our school-based classes generally run from Year 1 to Year 6, but it will depend on demand as to which age ranges are offered in your school. Please contact us if you would be interested in adding a Language Larks class to your school or nursery or if you would be interested in trying an online class for your child via Zoom. The La Jolie Ronde programme is designed so that children can join at any age and at any level.
At Language Larks, we use a communicative and interactive teaching approach that emphasises real communication, situational learning, and speech development. Our classes are designed to be engaging, interactive, and enjoyable to help children learn French and Spanish in a fun environment.
In KS1, children follow the adventures of the French or Spanish toy characters with stories, songs, games and role-plays and mazes, dot-to-dots, colouring, circling and joining up activities in the workbooks. There are two KS1 workbooks that re-visit previous topics and themes to ensure that previously learned language learning is not lost.
By KS2, the bain français or baño español is introduced. This is where we immerse ourselves in the target language at the start of the lesson and practise common questions and answers as well as revising numbers and colours and other previously learned vocabulary. New vocabulary is then introduced and used in games, songs and role-plays. Words will be taught through speaking and listening first before reading and writing in the dedicated KS2 workbooks.
In KS1, we tend to recommend that your child sticks to the one language but we are happy to offer both languages in KS2.
Yes, if we have space, your child is welcome to come and try before you buy. Just book your place here but do not set up payment until your child has tried a class and you are satisfied they wish to continue. If they decide it is not for them, just let us know and we will clear your account.
You can register for our regular classes here!
Please select the class you require and fill in all the necessary information. You will then be sent confirmation and payment details. All lessons are to be paid for termly in advance and you will be given the option to pay in full or in monthly installments through direct debit using the Go Cardless system. If you would prefer to pay via bank transfer, please contact us for further details.
At the end of term, you will be sent an email from Club Enrolment asking you to re-enrol or cancel your place. Once you have re-enrolled, you will be sent a link to your account for payment. You will need to set up a new direct debit payment at the start of each full term. Payment is for a fixed termly amount. We do not use a rolling direct debit system so there is no danger of you forgetting to cancel and over-paying.
We do not send invoices but you can check your statement on your Club Enrolment account at any time.
To ensure effective learning for each child, our face-to-face classes have a maximum of 15 students per session, but most classes will be smaller than this. Our low student-to-teacher ratio means that each child receives personalised attention and support throughout the class. Our online groups cater for a maximum of 8 students at any one time, but again most will be smaller than this.
Yes, if we have space in our timetable and we can agree a suitable time and date, we offer private tuition for both French and Spanish. Our experienced teachers can create a customised programme that caters to your child's learning needs, schedule, and pace.
We offer a pro-rata refund for classes in the unlikely event they have to be cancelled, but unfortunately, we are unable to refund any classes missed by the student as classes are booked on a term-block basis.
If you need to cancel a block, please do so prior to the beginning of the term in order to be eligible for a refund.
At the beginning of a school year, or for pupils who join a class partway through the year, Club Enrolment will add a charge of £20.70 for a new workbook and audio app materials. This may not apply if your child is in Year 4 or Year 6 and has been learning with us previously, as some of the workbooks will last your child for two years rather than one.
The teacher will keep hold of the workbook to use in class and will send you details of how to access the audio for your child’s programme. We do not set homework but your teacher will send you a follow up email after each class outlining what was covered and suggesting audio tracks you can listen to at home. Once your child has finished their workbook, it will come home to you to keep and it will serve as a useful reference tool for further language learning. You are of course welcome to request that your child’s workbook comes home at any time, just please ensure that your child brings it back to school for their next class.
Instructions on how to access the La Jolie Ronde audio materials are included on the inside front cover of every workbook and each book has a unique code assigned to you that you will need to enter in order to access the materials. Your teacher will send you this code, but if you did not receive it or cannot find it, please just get in touch.
Visit media.lajolieronde.co.uk, create an account or simply login if you have an existing account. Enter your code to assign the audio material for your child’s programme to your account. Once you’ve created an account and unlocked your audio material, search for ‘La Jolie Ronde Media Player’ on the App Store or Google Play. Listen to the audio tracks as advised by your tutor. As you progress through the programmes, you will be able to add more audio materials to your account.
The app will also prompt you to access the Parent Guides for each programme, which can also be found on the La Jolie Ronde website - https://www.lajolieronde.co.uk/parents/parent-guides.
They contain a transcription and translation of everything that is on the audio app as well as instructions on how to complete activities in the books.
